Go2Web20.net
I came across this great site when looking at the Web 2.0 stuff. It is a great directory of websites and search engines teachers can use. A lot of these sites shown in this are free.

Education 553 Using the Internet
Just posting to show my progress. I have to complete my presentation (PPT) and then I think my assignment is done. I am glad because the Olympic starts Friday and I don't want to miss the coverage. I know people might think I am weird, but I love the Summer and Winter Olympics. Go USA!!!!!

Web 2.0 for the Classroom Teacher - Educ. 553
For this assignment, we got to explore the link Web 2.0 for the Classroom Teacher - An Internet Hotlist on Web 2.0. This link consisted of a list of links categorized to help you find Web 2.0 tools that might be of use to the K-12 classroom teacher. While I looked at the various links, I found several that will be beneficial to me to use in my teaching setting. One site that I thought was interesting was Edublog. These are free blogs for educators. It hosts hundreds of thousands of blogs for teachers, students, researchers, professors, librarians, administrators and anyone and everyone else involved in education. This site caters to schools and looks at creating, managing and controlling blogs at their own domain. They call it Edublogs Campus. This would be a good way to teach students how to use blogs in an educational way, not just for fun. Edublogs are entirely standards based. Users can customise every sidebar using the Widget system. All posts are automatically spell-checked and auto-saved. You can upload images, podcasts and Teacher Tube videos easy. It also allows you to import from other blogging sites or export back to them. Another nice thing about this is that it has a forum you can access to ask other educators questions and share hints and tips. I really like this site and am going to talk to my districts Techie to see if he might allow this site to be opened up for classroom use.
